HOT Stringband

Hobart Old Time Stringband

The Hobart Old Time Stringband is a community music group, evolved from Fred Pribac's Hillbilly Zen classes.   It meets weekly and is open to all skill levels.
I've noted the key after the tune title. Since this is a round robin format, most fiddles are in standard tuning, GDAE. The Aussie and Tassie tunes work quite well cross tuned, though.
These were recorded in early 2008.
Thursday evening sessions
Athol's Father's Schottische
Athol's Father's Set Tune
Bruce Smith's 2nd Set Tune _D  There's another recording of this tune on the sendoff party page. I just love it to bits. Cheers for Stuart Graham on the squeeze box, who passes along gems like these.
The Muttonbirder's Jig,   aka The Showman's Song
The Royal Princess Two Step
The Old Schoolmaster _D  by Tom Walsh, learned from Maggie Duncan. This was the first time many people had heard or played this tune.
