MerleFest is a big bluegrass/old time festival that happens every year in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. It was started by Doc Watson in memory of his son, Merle. I'm not much of a bluegrass fan, but the old time program this year was superb. Here are some recordings from jam sessions that took place under the traditional jam tent. There's more in the hopper. All I need is time. Check back again.
I've noted the key after the tune title. Fiddle tunings: for the key of D = ADAE, A = AEAE. If anyone wants more or less credit, let me know. I'd be glad to add links to your websites, too.
Saro _D 'Scuse the competing percussion from the dance tent. Nice little tune, easy to play. A little like Great Big Taters, to my ears, and a little like the simple Sally Ann.
Sugar in the Gourd _A A fun guy named Troy on banjo and vocals.
Mike In The Wilderness _A Jon lead this ripper.
Money Musk _A Another boost from Jon.
Waterbound _A AKA Stay All Night. Perhaps made a little bit more relevant in that we were in North Carolina:-)
