Stuart Graham, squeezebox player and traditional music collector, hosts a monthly session in the Hobart area. Most recently at the Magnolia Cafe in South Hobart. He shares tunes collected from the Huon Valley to the Cape Barren Islands and beyond, with an occassional tune from the mainland, too. It is open to all skill levels and listeners. Many of the participants play also with the Hobart Old Time Stringband, and quite a few Tassie tunes have made it into their repertoire.
Since this is a round robin format, most fiddles are in standard tuning, GDAE. Playing with accordion players is quite similar to playing with banjos. Past any jokes that might be told on both, most tunes are in D or G, with an occassional C or A tune.
Down in the Prison Yard Also known as Bourke's Dream.
You're a Fine Young Man
Little Burnt Potato Quite like the American contra tune.
Maxina
Moonan Flats From the mainland, I believe. This is one of my favorites. It's also posted on the Send Off Party page.
